Его «Хроники» написаны по-французски. Они охватывают годы с 1325 по 1400; более ранний период, до 1361 года, описан на основе работы, которую он сам именует «истинной летописью», написанной другим уроженцем Эно, Жаном Лебелем (см. выше). «Хроники» Фруассара отличаются живостью, подробностью и прекрасно читаются до сих пор — но они романизированы, а порой ненадежны и противоречивы, часто основаны без всякого разбора на придворных сплетнях, поэтому их следует воспринимать критически.
