Космологические взаимоотношения между созвездием Южный Крест и созвездием Лебедя как Северным Крестом существовали, как уже отмечалось выше, у инков Перу и неолитических племен Британии. Но в космологии догонов Млечный Путь проходит прямо над головой наблюдателя от головы Номмо на севере к ногам на юге, вдоль линии алтарей в Верхнем Оголе.
При помощи компьютерной программы «Skyglobe» можно установить, что в течение всего прецессионного цикла продолжительностью 26 000 лет Млечный Путь лишь один раз располагается вдоль оси север — юг прямо над головой наблюдателя в любой точке северного полушария. Последний раз это происходило в период 16 000— 15 000 г. до н. э. Кроме того, на широте севера Африки Млечный Путь начинался у созвездия Лебедя на севере, где место Полярной звезды занимал Денеб, и заканчивался у созвездия Южный Крест на самом юге. Если это действительно так, то представления догонов о космосе, совпадающие с представлениями китайцев и других народов мира, могли быть сформированы только нашими предками в эпоху палеолита, около 17 000 лет назад.
